Discarded Christmas trees are repurposed to build sand dunes along the Texas coast. These trees are placed on beaches to trap shifting sand and strengthen the shoreline. This process occurs before the sea turtle nesting season begins each year. The new dunes provide a protective barrier for relocated sea turtle eggs.
