Mar-a-Lago has a long history that predates Donald Trump and the FBI search. Built in the 1920s by wealthy heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post, the Florida mansion hosted royals, diplomats, lavish parties and charity events. Post later left the estate to the US government as a presidential retreat, but it was eventually bought by Trump in 1985.
