In the wake of Colombia’s recent presidential elections, the city of Cali became a hotspot for protests and altercations with police. The hard-right candidate, Abelardo de la Espriella, who received backing from Donald Trump, narrowly edged out leftist Senator Ivan Cepeda. Known as ‘The Tiger,’ de la Espriella’s campaign centered on strict crime policies and proposed drastic measures to reform the economy and halt peace dialogues with militant factions.
