University of Georgia has received an $8 million grant to restore salt marsh habitat across four coastal states. The initiative, which spans from North Carolina to Florida, will assess the use of dredged sediment. This project aims to elevate marshes and support diverse wildlife while addressing rising sea levels and pollution. Proposed restoration sites include Bird-Long Island, Cape Lookout National Seashore, Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge, and Julia’s Island.
