In 2012, retired FBI agent Dave Benscoter began searching for forgotten apple varieties after discovering unidentified trees in a churchgoer’s orchard. What started as curiosity became a decade-long mission. Alongside fellow apple enthusiasts, Benscoter has helped rediscover 30 once-lost varieties while preserving historic apple trees across the Pacific Northwest for future generations.
