A Nebraska farmer leases a 160-acre parcel for a wind turbine that occupies just one acre, leaving the remaining land available for farming. According to a 2021 NRECA case study, developer Bluestem Energy Solutions says a typical 30-year lease averages $10,000 to $12,500 annually, compared with an estimated $600 from growing corn on the same acre.
