Memorial Stadium rubble built Maryland living shoreline, restoring 400ft of coast & 2 acres of wetlands

In an innovative project, crushed concrete sourced from Baltimore’s Memorial Stadium has been repurposed to establish coastal foundations. This sustainable initiative has not only fostered wetland creation but has also restored over 400 linear feet of shoreline. Engineers effectively utilized the rubble to construct breakwaters and low barriers, mitigating wave erosion while simultaneously functioning as artificial reefs that bolster oyster and fish populations.
