A unique blind snake was discovered near Brisbane in 1992. Scientists have searched extensively for this elusive reptile since its initial discovery. Despite dedicated efforts, the Fassifern blind snake has not been found again. This lack of sightings creates a significant conservation challenge for the species. The snake is now considered critically endangered and likely to become extinct soon.
