Kallakurichi Assembly constituency has a history of close contests between AIADMK and DMK. In 2016, AIADMK’s Prabhu A narrowly defeated DMK’s Kamaraj P by 4,104 votes. Earlier, AIADMK secured a significant win in 2011, while DMK also has historical victories in the constituency.
