George Harrison revived a forgotten garden and Olivia kept his dream alive

George Harrison purchased Friar Park in 1970 and began restoring its neglected Victorian gardens. He cleared overgrown vegetation and repaired damaged features, making gardening a family activity. After Harrison’s death, Olivia Harrison continued preserving the estate’s unique character and elaborate topiary. Today, Friar Park’s gardens showcase over 160 restored topiary specimens.
