Europe’s recent heatwave, spanning June 20-28, has resulted in an alarming 3,700 excess deaths across France, the Netherlands, and Belgium. France alone reported over 2,000 fatalities, with a significant rise in deaths among those over 45. Belgium and the Netherlands also registered hundreds of additional deaths, primarily affecting the elderly. Experts attribute this extreme heat to climate change, warning that initial figures may increase.
