Brazil’s emergency alert system was temporarily shut down after a suspected cyberattack flooded the nation with false “Extreme Alert” messages overnight. Residents were jolted awake by the disruptive notifications, which authorities believe were remotely activated by an intruder. The Civil Defense agency is now working with the Federal Police to investigate the hack and will restore the system only after enhancing security measures.
