Eminent historian K.N. Panikkar, a leading Marxist scholar and founder chairman of the Kerala Council for Historical Research, passed away at 89 in Thiruvananthapuram. Panikkar, who held significant academic positions at Jawaharlal Nehru University and served as Vice-Chancellor of Sree Sankaracharya Sanskrit University, was also the Chairman of the Kerala Higher Education Council at the time of his death.
