A study of oyster reef restoration in China’s Bohai Bay has found encouraging signs of marine habitat recovery between 2022 and 2026. By March 2026, artificial reefs supported an average of 286 oysters per square metre, while suspended particles in the water had declined by approximately 62%. Published in Frontiers in Marine Science, the study also recorded an increase in seabed animals. However, researchers said further monitoring was needed to establish the project’s long-term effectiveness.
