Burkina Faso recorded more than$6 billion worth of goldthrough official channels in the first half of 2026 after producing and procuring over55 tonnes of gold. The military-led government says its mining reforms aim to bring more artisanal gold into the formal economy, reduce smuggling, improve transparency and increase state revenue. It has also expanded mining oversight, formed new cooperatives and continued investments in electricity infrastructure.
