The Supreme Court sternly rebuked Congress MP Jairam Ramesh for challenging an Office Memorandum that aimed to implement the court’s ruling against retrospective environmental clearances. “Be ready for exemplary costs. We know the design behind this,” a bench led by CJI Surya Kant said. Justices warned of hefty costs, viewing the challenge as an indirect attack on the apex court’s judgment itself. Ramesh subsequently withdrew his plea.
