Archaeologists uncover 600-year-old saint statue beneath Berlin’s oldest district

Excavations in Berlin’s Molkenmarkt uncovered medieval religious artefacts from the 14th and 15th centuries. These discoveries include well-preserved saint figurines and a Madonna and Child sculpture. An extraordinary cache of ceramic figures containing human bone fragments was also found. These finds offer fresh evidence of devotional practices in medieval urban life. The discoveries contribute to understanding medieval Berlin and its spiritual traditions.
