An American elm in Oklahoma City known as the Survivor Tree has observed many changes since its likely planting in 1920. The tree was growing in a family backyard before commercial development removed surrounding trees and structures. In 1995, the elm endured significant damage from the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building while remaining standing.
