Jagpreet Singh, an Indian national, has been sentenced for second-degree murder after fatally stabbing his wife, Balwinder Kaur, only six days post-arrival in Canada. The court rejected Singh’s assertion that the stabbing was accidental during a dispute, labeling his testimony as untrustworthy. Previously married for twenty years, Kaur had sponsored Singh’s visa, and the tragic event took place on March 15, 2024, after she expressed concerns about his arrival.
